Surgeres 48 Hour Race *Ultra
This unusual Ultra run is of no set distance, runners just see how far they can run in 48 hours. The record for a male runner was 473km and the female 397km.
This is a race of 230km, over 6 days and 6 stages. It follows the Aquitaine coast in Bordeaux.

Verdon Canyon Challenge *Ultra
This 100km ultra takes in the Verdon Gorge, the largest river canyon in Europe. Its a challenging race with a 6,030 ascent and descent.
6000D La Plagne * Ultra
La Plagne is a ski area in the French Alps and this 60km event runs along trails and through quaint French villages.
La Petit Vignemale *Ultra
This 45km run throught the Pyrenees take you to the top of Petit Vignemale, with a 2,100metre ascent and descent.
Les Cretes du Pays Basque
This mountain run climbs up Mandarain Mountain in Espelette, French Baroque Country. There are several distances, 26km, 20km, 14km, 7km and walking events as well.
Just a bit more than a half marathon, this 22.4km road race is run in France's Lozere region.
Course du Canigou
This mountain race was first run over a century ago, it is 34km in length and starts in the pretty village of Vernet-les-Bains, and it has quite a long climb, 2,194 metres up.

Marathon du Medoc, Pauillac *Marathon
For running wine lovers, this marathon in Pauillac, France is hard to beat.. Runners head to the starting line to await a sip of wine and a trapeze act dangling overhead. The course navigates through vineyards and includes 22 refreshment stands and 21 food stands, not a lot of running gets done as you are tempted to try the variety of snacks, such as beef, oysters and ice cream. Fancy dress is a must as well. A red carpet decorates the last 100 meters of the race and runners are greeted with more wine once they cross the finish line.
Defi de l'Oisans, Les Deux Alps
This epic French race is 180kms over 6 days and 8 stages through the Ecrins National Park.
Dent d'Orlu, Pyrenees
If you are into uphill running, you will enjoy this 14km climb to the top of Dent d'Orlu, the top is a bit of a scamble, and the summit can only hold about 10 people so no time to hang around enjoying the fruits of your labour!
This scenic 16.3km road race, weaves through the streets of Paris taking in some wonderful landmarks. It starts near the Eiffel Tower and finishes in the Avenue de Paris in front of Versailles Palace
La Grand Raid de la, Reunion
This ultra trail run covers 162km. Reunion is an island lying between Madagascar and Mauritius. Reunion is a volcanic island rising from the sea up to 3,000 metres, making this a very tough race.
Les 20km de Paris
This very popular race of 20km has been capped at 25,000 entrants. It starts on the banks of the River Seine, opposite the Eiffel Tower and travels North, a great Paris Sight seeing race.
This popular 20km road event, finishes at the lovely quayside of Cassis.
Corrida de Houilles, Paris
This 10km road run through Paris is very popular with elite athletes and fun runners.
